In this lesson, we will discuss patient preparation and setup, slice positioning, indications for this exam, protocol sequences, and a couple common imaging challenges associated with this study. An MR angiography of the extremities is used to evaluate the peripheral vascular structures such as the femoral arteries, popliteal arteries, tibial arteries, and other vessels in the legs or arms in upper extremity cases. Common indications for this study include peripheral artery disease, arterial stenosis or occlusion, aneurysms, dissections, vascular malformations, arteriovenous fistulas, deep vein thrombosis evaluation, and preoperative planning for vascular interventions like bypass grafting or angioplasty.
