MRI for Bony Pelvis (Procedures) - Video Lesson

Hey everyone. Welcome to today's lesson on the MRI of the bony pelvis. In this lesson, we will discuss patient setup and slice positioning, indications for this exam, MRI anatomy, and discuss some imaging challenges associated with this study. Let's get started. An MRI of the bony pelvis can help evaluate the overall bony structures and muscles. It is important to carefully review the indication for the exam to ensure the correct protocol is being used. Studies for the bony structures of the pelvis will have a very different protocol than a soft tissue pelvis. If in doubt of what protocol to use, it is important to consult with the radiologist. Some common indications for this study include traumatic or pathologic fractures, muscle or tendon injuries, avascular necrosis, osteoarthritis, and benign or malignant tumors affecting the bones.
