Hey everyone! Welcome to today's lesson on the MRI of Upper Extremity Long Bones. In this lesson, we will discuss patient setup and slice positioning. Indications for this exam, and discuss some imaging challenges associated with this study. Let's get started. An MRI of long bones of the upper extremity include either the humerus or forearm. If both areas were indicated, they are scanned as separate studies This type of scan is particularly useful when soft tissue or bone marrow abnormalities are of interest. Common indications can include bone tumors or lesions, osteomyelitis, soft tissue masses, muscle or tendon injuries, and unexplained pain. Prior to beginning the study, it is important to get an accurate and thorough patient history to aid the radiologist in diagnosis. A technologist can place a vitamin D capsule on or near the patient's affected area
