MRI for Vascular Head (MRA and MRV) (Procedures) - Video Lesson
Hey, everyone. Welcome to today's lesson on magnetic resonance angiography and magnetic resonance banography. In this lesson, we will discuss the vasculature of the brain, the slice coverage for these studies, the role of saturation bands, as well as look at MRI anatomy, and discuss some imaging challenges associated with this study. Let's get started. The vasculature of the brain consists of the arterial system and venous system. The arterial system vessels are delivering oxygen rich blood from the heart, while the venous system is taking deoxygenated blood back to the heart. MRA scans clearly demonstrate the arterial system in the head, also known as the circle of Willis. The circle of Willis is formed by the internal carotid arteries, anterior cerebral arteries, anterior communicating artery, posterior cerebral arteries, and the posterior communicating artery. The connection of these vessels forms a circular pattern in the brain.
