MRI for Specialized Studies - CSF Flow (Procedures) - Video Lesson
Hey, everyone. Welcome to today's lesson on cerebrospinal fluid flow studies in MRI. In this lesson, we will discuss indications for this study, patient setup, phase contrast imaging, slice alignment, and normal versus abnormal flow patterns. Let's get started. Cerebrospinal fluid or CSF flow study may be indicated for a patient who has a cerebral aqueduct stenosis, hydrocephalus, or pathology or structure that is restricting CSF flow in the brain. This is another imaging technique that may be added onto a routine brain protocol. Let's take a look at patient setup for an exam. For a cerebrospinal fluid flow study, patients are positioned supine on the MRI table. A wedge cushion should be placed under the knees to aid in patient comfort, and the call ball should be given to the patient to use if they need to contact the technologist. Patients should be given
