MRI Routine Brain - Patient Positioning and Protocol - Video Lesson
Hey, everyone. Welcome to today's lesson on the patient preparation and protocols of a routine brain. In this lesson, we will discuss the patient preparation and equipment needed, indications for a study of the brain, slice alignment, and discuss some imaging challenges associated with this study. Let's get started. Studies of the brain are some of the most common procedures performed in an MRI department. Brain protocols will include a variety of imaging planes to include sagittal, axial, and coronal views. Weightings included in a brain study will include t one, t two, diffusion, susceptibility weighted or SWI, and flare sequences. A brain protocol is often used as the base for additional protocols, such as studies of the orbit, pituitary, and internal auditory canal. Therefore, it is critical to have a full understanding of the proper procedures for brain scans. There are many indications for MRI scans of the brain. Some of these are stroke.
