In this lesson, we will discuss the names and numbers of the cranial nerves, common slice alignment, and discuss some imaging challenges associated with these studies. Let's get started. There are twelve cranial nerves in the brain. They are olfactory one, optic two, ocular motor three, trochlear four, trigeminal five, abducens six, facial seven, vestibulocochlear eight, glossopharyngeal nine, vagus ten, accessory or spinal eleven, and hypoglossal twelve. It is important to know the names and numbers of these nerves in order to identify the proper study to perform when scanning.
