MRI for Paranasal Sinuses (Procedures) - Video Lesson
Hey, everyone. Welcome to today's lesson on the MRI of the sinuses. In this lesson, we will discuss the basic anatomy of these structures, look at patient and slice setup, and MRI anatomy and pathology associated with these studies. Let's get started. Sinuses are air filled cavities located within the skull. Within the cranial cavity, there are four paranasal sinuses, which are named for what bone they are associated with. The frontal sinus is in the frontal bone, located near the eyebrows. The maxillary sinus is located in the maxillary bone, near the area of the cheeks. The sphenoid sinus is more in the center of the skull, located near the sphenoid bone. The ethmoid sinus is in the ethmoid bone, situated between the eyes and nose. Let's take a look at the patient setup and slice alignment. Patients needing a sinus scan will be positioned on the MR table head first, supine. A wedge cushion should be placed
