Urinary System Drugs: Antibiotics - Video Lesson

Hey, everybody. Welcome back to our lesson series on the classes of medication. This lesson looks at medications aimed at treating urinary system disorders, the basic anatomy of the body's urinary system, its common disorders, and essential information about administering medication for disorders of the urinary system. In order to better understand our discussion of urinary disorders, let's begin by reviewing the basic anatomy of the urinary system. The urinary system begins with the kidneys, which filter waste from the blood to produce urine. Ureters then transport urine from the kidneys to the bladder where it is stored until it is excreted through the urethra, which is the channel through which urine is discharged from the body. This system performs three vital functions in its critical role of maintaining the body's internal environment. These three functions are excretion of waste products. The kidneys remove waste products, including urea and drug metabolites from the bloodstream.
