Patient Transport System - Video Lesson

Welcome to today's lesson on instrumentation in MRI. This lesson focuses on two crucial aspects, the patient transport system and patient comfort measures. Understanding these elements is essential for ensuring a safe and pleasant MRI experience for patients, which can significantly affect the quality of imaging results. The patient transport system is a large, non ferromagnetic patient table. The table is raised and lowered to allow for ease of access to the patient and moves horizontally into the magnet bore. These movements are controlled from a panel on the front panel of the scanner. The table is moved during a scan to position the region of interest within the isocenter of the magnetic field. This is where the magnetic homogeneity is the greatest. Laser positioning lights on the front panel help to achieve this positioning. The region to be scanned is centered in the crosshairs formed by the lasers. Once
