Filling k-space: Imaging Options - Video Lesson
Hey, everybody. Welcome back to today's lesson on filling k space. In this lesson, we will learn about the different imaging options used to take advantage of k space. Time saving imaging options like partial echo and parallel imaging change how echoes are recorded as signals. It is important to understand these concepts to keep scan times lower for patient comfort. Let's get started. Partial echo is an imaging option used to decrease the minimum TE for t one weighted sequences. In this method, conjugate symmetry is used to collect only part of the echo during application of the frequency encoding gradient. Conjugate symmetry refers to the quality of k space where a value at a certain position in k space has a conjugate symmetric counterpart at the opposite position. In kSpace, the computer can replicate the missing part of the echo.
