Medication Storage - Video Lesson

Hey, everybody. Welcome to today's lesson, which focuses on various medication storage systems, unit dose packaging, unit of use doses, and the proper disposal methods for unused drugs. This knowledge is vital for health care professionals to ensure patient safety and maintain the highest standards of care. There are a variety of medication storage systems in health care. They include medication rooms, medicine carts, and automated medication dispensing systems or AMDS. Let's discuss medication rooms first. A medication room is a secured area within a health care facility where a wide range of medications are stored. Medication rooms typically have a sink, a refrigerator, and storage cabinets. The refrigerator is required for drugs that must be stored in a cool place, like some antibiotics or insulin. If they are not stored properly, these drugs could lose their effectiveness.
