Abdomen Sonography: Liver Diffuse Diseases - Video Lesson
Hi everyone, and welcome back to our abdominal ultrasound series. Today, we'll discuss diffuse disease processes within the liver. This section will focus on four major categories: fatty infiltration, hepatitis, cirrhosis, and portal hypertension. We'll review how these diseases appear sonographically, how they progress over time, and additional findings like ascites or splenomegaly, which may suggest worsening liver function or hemodynamic compromise. A normal liver has a uniform, medium level echotexture that is slightly hypoechoic or isoechoic to the renal cortex and slightly more echogenic than the spleen. The margins should be smooth and the vessels should be easily traceable without distortion or compression. The normal adult liver should measure less than fifteen point five centimeters in length in the midclavicular line. Enlargement
