Hey, everybody. Welcome back. This video is about the design and function of TLD and OSL dosimeters used for tracking occupational dose. Federal law requires that certain people working around radiation have to wear a personal dosimeter to measure and track their radiation dose from job related functions. Well, it might seem tedious and unnecessary. It's actually really important. In the early years when x rays and radioactivity were first discovered, countless people who worked around ionizing radiation died because the risk wasn't totally understood, and no one was monitoring their dose. That's a mistake that we don't want to make again. Through the years, there have been many devices used to measure radiation dose to radiographers and other radiation workers. These devices include film badges and pocket ionization chambers, but the most common
