Administering Oxygen: Oxygen Concentrators and Cylinders - Video Lesson
Hey, everyone. Welcome back to our exploration of different procedures for administering medication. This lesson focuses on the two most common supply sources for oxygen therapy, oxygen concentrators and oxygen cylinders. Understanding these two sources, the equipment involved, and safety concerns for oxygen administration is essential for patient safety and effective treatment. Please note, it is important for you to understand your scope of practice as well as your facility's policies. If administration of oxygen is not within your scope of practice, do not attempt to do so. As we cover in a different lesson, oxygen is prescribed for patients when their body is not receiving enough oxygen, and patients are at risk to develop hypoxemia or hypoxia. Hypoxemia is low levels of oxygen in the blood and can cause hypoxia, which is low oxygen in the body's tissues. Oxygen
