This protocol review is on CT of the facial bones. There are several reasons to complete a CT scan of the facial bones, The most common reason is facial trauma. Second to that is mass, swelling, infection, and even dental abscess. There's a specific way that CT of the facial bones should be performed. The recommended scan type is the helical mode. As always, helical mode is often preferred because it's faster than axial scanning, and it also allows for better post processing options. CT of the facial bones also require specific slice parameters. The facial bones include several small bones that need to be considered in great detail tail. And so a slice thickness of one point two five millimeters is preferred. As always, thinner slices are recommended for high spatial resolution imaging.
