MRI Shoulder (Axial) - Video Lesson
Welcome back. This sectional anatomy tutorial video is an MRI in the axial view of the shoulder. We'll take a look at the May your muscles and bones of the shoulder that can be visualized in the axial view in MRI. The first thing to notice is this large muscle outside of the humeral head, And that is the most lateral muscle of the shoulder. It's the deltoid muscle. This large circular bone on the most lateral portion of the shoulder. Is the head of the humerus. Another bone that we can see is this area right here. This is actually the spine of the scapula. We can't see the rest of the scapula yet, but this is the spine of the scapula, and this is an important reference point for other muscles in the shoulder. Anterior and superior to the scapular spine is a muscle called the supraspinatus muscle, and this is part of one of the core group of shoulder muscles.
