Aortic Aneurysm - Video Lesson

Hey, everybody. Welcome back. This short video is about aortic aneurysms. So here's a few illustrations of what the aorta is supposed to look like and what it's not supposed to look like. The image to the left is a perfectly normal illustration of the abdominal aorta. You can see the inferior vena cava in blue And to the right of that, you can see the abdominal aorta, perfectly normal, not overly enlarged. In this next image though, something is obviously wrong. You can see that very large outpouching of the abdominal aorta, and this is what we would call an aneurysm. Anurysms can appear in any artery, really any vessel anywhere in the body. But when it occurs in the aorta, obviously, we call that an aortic aneurysm. This particular kind of aneurysm is what we would call a saccular aneurysm because it's forming the shape of a sac. The last illustration to the right is another example of an aortic aneurysm. You can see the aorta is large. It's swollen. It's
