Brain Tumors - Video Lesson
Hey, everybody. Welcome back. This lesson is about brain tumors that we can visualize in sectional imaging. There's basically three broad categories of brain tumors. The first category is benign tumors. These are tumors that are very dangerous, very deadly, but they're technically benign, which means they're not cancer. They don't have the ability to metastasize to other parts of the body. The image here is an example of a tumor, it's a meningioma. Another broad category of brain tumors is primary brain cancers. These are truly cancers. They're malignant. They potentially have the ability to metastasize to other parts of the body. In this example, this is an Astrocytoma, a primary brain cancer. The third broad category of brain tumors is metastatic cancer. These are tumors that did not originate from a cancer in the brain, but actually came to the brain metastasized to the brain from someone
