Renal Pathologies - Video Lesson
Hey, everybody. Welcome back, and this video will be examining some pathologies of the kidneys that we can see in sectional imaging. So here's the first pathology we'll look at. We commonly call these kidney stones, but the proper name would be renal calculus. These three images each show examples of kidney stones in the kidneys or the ureters or even in the bladder. In the first image to the left, this is a CT scan without comm trashed. So you can see those very dense calcified stones in the kidneys. It's very common for these kidneys to migrate through the urinary tract towards the bladder, and that's what see in the center image. You can see on the posterior side of the patient's bladder, there's a very small kidney stone that has settled into that space Eventually, this patient will have to pass that stone. In the image to the right, this is one more example of how you can see a small kidney stone in the patient's bladder. In all cases, the kidney stone appears as a very bright, white, dense area inside of the urinary tract. They can appear in the kidneys, the ureter
