Hey, everybody. Welcome back. This video is about collimation. Colimation is the process of restricting the size of the exposure field to the area being imaged. In this example, the exposure field includes the in higher abdomen. If the procedure is intended to view only the lumbar spine, collimation is used to reduce the exposure field down to the desired area. Using correct collimation is very important because collimation can decrease the patient's radiation dose, and collimation can increase the image quality.
