Hey, everybody. Welcome to today's lesson on the gross anatomy and routine projections of the upper airway. This essential topic forms the foundation for accurate imaging and diagnosis of conditions related to the upper airway. In this lesson, we'll cover appropriate medical terminology, the anatomy of the upper airway, and routine projections for radiographs. You may recall from the general anatomy lesson of the chest, the respiratory system consists of the pharynx, trachea, bronchi, and two lungs. This system is responsible for respiration. Respiration is the exchange of gaseous substances between the air we breathe and the bloodstream. In the gross anatomy and routine projections lesson, we discussed that the chest contains the lower respiratory system. In this lesson, we'll discuss the upper respiratory system from the nose and mouth through the trachea. The primary area of interest when discussing the upper airway is the neck, which occupies the region
