Mastery of these tools is essential for ensuring patient safety, optimizing contrast delivery, and maintaining workflow efficiency in a high volume MR suite. Many MR imaging protocols require the administration of gadolinium based contrast agents. Some studies can use hand injection techniques through a butterfly needle, while others may require more consistent pressure or higher flow rates requiring an angiocath and a power injector. Details about power injectors are provided in a later lesson. Let's start with a winged infusion set, commonly termed a butterfly needle. Winged infusion sets are usually used for routine studies.
