Venipuncture Equipment - Video Lesson
Hey everyone. Welcome to today's lesson on Venipuncture Equipment for Magnetic Resonance Contrast Administration. In this lesson, we'll discuss the devices and materials required to establish safe, reliable intravenous access in the MRI environment. Mastery of these tools is essential for ensuring patient safety, optimizing contrast delivery, and maintaining workflow efficiency in a high volume MR suite. Many MR imaging protocols require the administration of gadolinium based contrast agents. Some studies can use hand injection techniques through a butterfly needle, while others may require more consistent pressure or higher flow rates requiring an angiocath and a power injector. Details about power injectors are provided in a later lesson. Let's start with a winged infusion set, commonly termed a butterfly needle. Winged infusion sets are usually used for routine studies.
