Scanner Configurations - Video Lesson

Hey, everybody. Welcome to today's lesson in instrumentation in MRI. This lesson focuses on the different types of MRI scanner configurations, including their advantages and disadvantages. It is important to understand the different configurations as scanner configuration impacts both the execution and quality of imaging. There are three main types of MRI scanner configurations. Closed bore, open bore, and extremity systems. The most commonly found MRI scanner is the closed bore system. Closed bore systems have a tunnel shaped magnet bore, which is typically around sixty centimeters in diameter. Although, there are now wide bore configurations of seventy centimeters in diameter. The patient table in a closed bore system moves, so the patient can be positioned with the region of interest at the center of the bore.
