CTA Head - Video Lesson

This protocol review is on CT angiography imaging of the head. Sometimes called CTA of the circle of Willis. So why would we perform an angiography study of just the head? There's a few very specific reasons. For example, vascular abnormalities, such as aneurysms or arterial venous malformations. CT angiography of the head only would help us to see those vascular changes in side of the brain. We would not perform a CTA of the head only if we were looking to diagnose the symptoms of stroke. Remember that a stroke can be caused by any change in the blood flow to the brain. And so see T imaging of the head only will only include abnormalities in the brain. But blood flow changes to the brain can be caused by changes well below the level of the head. For example, changes in the aortic arch or changes in the carotid arteries or even
