CT Head Venogram - Video Lesson

In this protocol review, we'll be looking at a procedure called the CT Vennigram of the head. A CT Vennigram or CTV is performed, especially to diagnose cerebral sinus thrombosis. Circral sinus thrombosis is exactly what it sounds like. It's a thrombosis or blood clot, which is in the cerebral sinuses. Vanes inside of the brain are sometimes called sinuses. So really what we're looking for is blood clots in the veins of the brain. And these cerebral sinus thrombosis can cause the symptoms of stroke because if blood can't flow out of the brain, it won't be able to flow in either. This also can cause other symptoms like sinusitis and other forms of inflammation in and around the brain.
