CT Cervical (Coronal) - Video Lesson

This sectional anatomy tutorial is on the cervical spine. This time we'll be looking at the coronal view. This first image of the cervical spine doesn't show us very much of the cervical spine, but there are a few things that we should notice. First, we should notice the anterior arch of c one and this is the point at which the cervical spine articulates with the occipital bone of the cranium. Something else I do want to point out is that we definitely are on the anterior portion of the cervical spine scan, and that's because we can see this dark area here, which is definitely the trachea. If we were on the posterior portion of the spine, we wouldn't be seeing air, but we do see air here So we know we're on the anterior side of the scan. We can also see some of the features of the lower cranial cavity. We can see the mastoid portion of the temporal bones on both sides of the face. And right here, we can actually see where the mandibular condyle articulates with the temporal bone of the cranial cavity.
