The thyroid gland is one of the most common sites for sonographic evaluation of neck pathology, and ultrasound is the first line imaging tool for assessing its size, texture, and any focal or diffuse disease. Because the gland lies just under the skin and is surrounded by soft tissue, we can evaluate it in real time with great accuracy.
