T2 Contrast - Video Lesson

Hey, everybody. Welcome to today's lesson on MRI contrast. This lesson focuses on understanding t two contrast, which allows us to distinguish between various types of tissues based on their physical and biochemical properties. T two contrast in MRI refers to the contrast generated based on the t two decay times of different tissues. Remember, t two decay time is the time it takes for sixty three percent of the total magnetization to be lost in the transverse plane. Contrast is the difference in brightness between parts of a diagnostic image caused by differences in signal intensity. Achieving t two contrast requires us to manipulate the echo time or TE. TE is the time between the application of the RF pulse and the peak of the signal received. A longer TE allows tissues with different t two
