T1 Contrast - Video Lesson

Hey, everybody. Welcome to today's lesson on MRI contrast. This lesson focuses on understanding t one contrast, which allows us to distinguish between various types of tissues based on their physical and biochemical properties. T one contrast in MRI refers to the contrast generated based on the different t one recovery times of different tissues. Contrast is the difference in brightness between different parts of a diagnostic image. Remember, t one recovery time is the time it takes for sixty three percent of the longitudinal magnetization to recover or realign with the magnetic field after being excited by a radio frequency pulse. Increasing or decreasing t one contrast requires us to manipulate the repetition time or t r. Remember, t r is the time between subsequent RF excitation pulses.
