In this lesson we will discuss patient setup and slice positioning, indications for this exam, MRI anatomy, and discuss some imaging challenges associated with this study. Let's get started. A routine MRI of the male pelvis is designed to evaluate soft tissue structures, including the prostate gland, seminal vesicles, bladder, and rectum. Common indications include prostate cancer detection and staging, benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH, pelvic pain, suspected pelvic masses, prostatitis, congenital anomalies, and pre or post treatment assessment for urologic or colorectal conditions.
