Fluoroscopic Dose Measurements - Video Lesson

Hey, everybody. This lesson discusses dose measurement in fluoroscopy as well as potential injuries as a result of too high a dose. It is important to understand both of these concepts as they pertain to patient safety. With modern fluoroscopic systems, we now have the capability of computing and monitoring fluoroscopic patient exposure. With longer procedure times and higher image quality expectations, exposure increases, which contributes to greater patient and occupational exposure. For the patient, fluoroscopic exposure is mostly to the skin because of the longer exposure times and reduced source to image distances or SIDs. Although minimum source to skin distances or SSDs have been well established, skin exposure is still a concern.
