Dose Area Product (DAP) - Video Lesson
We're quickly going to address DAP or dose area product. Dose area product is simply an estimation of the dose that the patient's going to receive. It's not the actual dose that the patient sieves, but it's very good estimation. And it also takes into effect the entire radiation in a procedure. So if you're in the interventional room or something like that, it really gives you a good idea of the estimation the patient received. The dose area product reflects the dose within the radiation field as well as the volume of the radiation. So what you have is How much radiation is coming out of the tube and how big an area is it? So it's the dose, the area, the product. It's expressed in grays per centimeter squared or milligrams per centimeter squared. And this is the reading that you'll usually see
