Contrast Enema: Positioning - Video Lesson
Hey, everybody. Welcome back. This lesson discusses positioning and beam placement and angulation for contrast enema procedures in fluoroscopy. For a double contrast contrast enema study with barium and air, obtain a scout k u b first to include the entire large intestine, including the left colic flexure. Place the patient supine on the table. The central ray is perpendicular to the image receptor centered on the iliac crest. Use a forty inch sid. Have the patient suspend respiration and take the exposure. When positioning the patient for an AP or PA view of the abdomen, include the entire barium filled colon from the flexures to the rectum.
