Scan Parameters - Video Lesson

This lesson is about scanning parameters in computed tomography. CT scanning really is not an extension of general radiography. The physics of radiation production are the same. The basic principles of digital imaging are the same, but the skills and knowledge required to perform a CT scan are very different. For example, radiographic imaging requires that the patient be contorted into all kinds of uncomfortable positions, but in CT, We just have to put the patient on the table, and that's it. Just put the patient on the table while the technologist sits comfortably at the control console. There's several scan parameters that need to be considered, and we'll begin with the scan type. There are three basic scanning types in computer tomography. Axial scanning, helical scanning, and volume scanning. Axial scanning is sometimes called the step and shoot method because one slice of data is acquired, the table moves, the next slice is acquired, and so on until the scan is finished. He
