Temporal Resolution - Video Lesson
Welcome back again. This CT image quality lesson is about a factor we call temporal resolution. Here's the basic way that we can define temporal resolution. It's the ability of the CT scanner to produce still images of objects that are normally in motion. Having good temporal resolution is really valuable because there's lots of things in the human body that we need to produce images of that are normally in motion. Things like the heart, the bowels and other parts of the body. Here's an example of two images. The image on the left has bad temporal resolution, and the image on the right has good temporal resolution. The main place where we can see this in these images is in the area of the left coronary arteries. If we look at the first image and we look at the area of the left coronary arteries, we really can't even see them. It's all just a giant blurry mess, and that's because the scanner at this moment did not have a good temporal resolution. Whatever factors were being used were not ideal for producing still images of the beating heart. And as a result of that,
