Abdomen Sonography: Scrotum Pathologies and Abnormalities - Video Lesson
Hey, everyone. Welcome back to our lesson series in abdominal extended sonography. In today's lesson, we're going to take a comprehensive look at common scrotal pathologies. We'll explore how each condition appears on ultrasound, how to distinguish between benign and potentially malignant findings, and how to correlate imaging with clinical symptoms. Let's get started. We'll begin with inflammatory conditions, which are some of the most common causes of acute scrotal pain. A common sonographic finding is epididymitis, an inflammation of the epididymis. Epididymitis is most commonly caused by an ascending bacterial infection, often originating from the urethra or bladder, with sexually transmitted pathogens like chlamydia and gonorrhea being typical causes in younger sexually active males. However, in older men or those with urinary tract abnormalities, epididymitis is more often caused by non sexually transmitted bacteria such as e coli and other organisms.
